The fighting Maroons of Jamaica

Robinson, Carey, The fighting Maroons of Jamaica, Kingston, Jamaica: William. Collins and Sangster, 1969.

From the introduction:
The story of the fighting Maroons is the great Jamaican epic. It covers the years from the middle of the seventeenth century to the end of the eighteenth, which was the time of the rapid growth of slavery in Jamaica. This story is one part of the long and complex struggle of the Jamaican people for freedom and self-respect. Yet it is a story which embodies an enormous paradox.
