Juan Antonio Ortega y Medina … fue un historiador, catedrático, investigador y académico de origen español nacionalizado mexicano. Se especializó en historiografía general, historiografía moderna mexicana, historia de América, Imperio español, Reforma y contrarreforma, y absolutismo europeo. Parte de su obra bibliográfica la dedicó a la cultura anglosajona protestante y a la historia de Estados Unidos, estudiando las diferencias entre el catolicismo de España e Hispanoamérica y el protestantismo de Inglaterra y Estados Unidos, así como del expansionismo de este último.
Juan Antonio Ortega y Medina was a historian, professor, researcher and academic of Spanish origin and nationalized a Mexican. He specialized in general historiography, modern Mexican historiography, American history, Spanish Empire, Reformation and counterreformation, and European absolutism. Part of his bibliographical work was dedicated to the Protestant Anglo-Saxon culture and the history of the United States, studying the differences between the Catholicism of Spain and Spanish America and the Protestantism of England and the United States, as well as the expansionism of the latter.
