This blog is for the sole purpose of listing the books, journals and archive in Dr. Thomas G. Mathews' (my late father's) vast library for specialists on Caribbean and Latin American History. Most of the Guiana folk songs were set down in the ‘20s and ‘30s by Miss Vesta Lowe. The original recordings and descriptions of the songs are by Mr. Rafik Khan, Programme Director of the British Guiana United Broadcasting Company, and were made in 1956.
